Thyrsostachys siamensis - Monastery Bamboo

One of the most graceful bamboos known. Culm walls very thick, almost solid - small leaves. Extremely erect and tight clumping.
Culms used for umbrella handles in Thailand. Planted as an ornamental by Buddhist monks around temples.
There are several cultivars of this species in distribution within the U.S. and we've collected four different forms (so far). This one we call 'standard' as it is the truest in form. 40' with 3" culms. .
As are all tropical bamboo species, this is a clumping bamboo and does not spread uncontrollably.
The temperate bamboos, grown in northern climates, are mostly runners (we do not specialize in temperate bamboos).

3 gallon bamboos are 3'-4' tall. Also available: 7, 15, 25, 45, 65 95, 200, 300 gallon sizes as well as field-grown specimens.

Tropical Bamboo® Nursery & Gardens - The Bamboo Plant Source
Tropical Bamboo®, Inc. is a progressive, 14 acre nursery and display garden specializing in tropical, clumping bamboo plants. This is the largest display collection of tropical bamboo varieties in the United States.
The gardens are open to the public Monday-Saturday 8:00-4:30. The nursery is based in Loxahatchee, (Palm Beach) Florida. Directions and a map can be found on the Contact Us page of tropicalbamboo.com.
