Théophile Alexandre Steinlen, 1859 - 1923
Swiss-born, French artist best known for his posters with cats and young girls advertising teas and hot chocolate. A fuller biography of the artist’s career and work can be found in Wikipedia.

This is an original piece of art more than 100 years old. It is a presentation proof of an etching of the artist’s daughter created in 1902.

In the lower right-hand corner Steinlen wrote “à Eug. Delâtre” (to his French publisher Eugène Delâtre) and signed his name, “Steinlen”, in pencil. Those inscriptions can be seen through the glass covering the print.

It was purchased at the Galerie Grillon in Paris in 2005.
