Toussaint St Pierre, well known Haitian painter, 1923 - 1985. "St Pierre spent most of his life working as a gardener. He was about fifty years old when he began to paint in 1972. Encouraged by his patron, Albert Mangones, St Pierre devoted most of his time to his new passion. A talented painter, he expressed his feelings through his work, painting mostly birds, flowers and voodoo spirits." St Pierre had a uniquely reconizable style, as you can see from this painting. It appears to have been painted on masonite. The painting is round, with a small wood brace on its reverse side from which to hang it, I suppose.
I bought this painting many years ago from a friend whose passion was collecting Haitian art. It's the real deal. Authentic signature. There are a few small scratches on the painting. I suspect this is typical of paintings on masonite. You can find more examples of his floral paintings by searching Toussaint St Pierre Haitian Painter. You will find they all share a similar style, but the round masonite canvas makes this one unique. 21" Diameter. Will look great hanging from your wall.

I live on South Ocean Blvd, right off of the Lake Avenue bridge. Come on by and give it a look. I'm a snowbird and only in town a few weeks a year. Come on by before it's gone.
