Future Captain looking for work and work experience (Miami)

Attention All Boat Owners,

Hi there, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Arent and I am a 62 year old Dutch born ex-hotel manager who is currently living in Miami and is considering a permanent career change. I currently do not own a boat, but in my past I have owned and enjoyed various types of boats since I was16 years old when I took my first sailing lessons.

I have owned sailboats and power boats, and successfully sailed across the North Atlantic twice (from Miami to Lisbon and from Gibraltar back to Miami) in my 37ft. Island Spirit Catamaran and a large part of the Pacific once (Sint Maarten to Tahiti by way of the Panama Canal, the Galapagos, the Marquesas and the Tuamotos) on a 53ft. Amel Super Maramu 2000 monohull. I have also sailed the lakes of the Netherlands and the islands of Greece.

The highlight of my boating career was when I took out Lady Gaga and her then fiancée on a 54 Magnum speedboat in Anquilla in 2013.

I am now interested in working with boats or yachts here in Miami, but do not have any local connections or a local captain’s license as yet. (It is not required when you sail or operate your own yacht elsewhere in the world).

I am wondering if anyone would be interested in sponsoring me for the license and then put me to work once I pass the exam.

If you have any interest in such a proposal, write me here and let me know what you think of this idea. Any thoughts on the matter will be appreciated and given serious consideration. Thank you for your time! Arent
