Especially looking for a Bari sax to fill our last horn spot!
Play saxophone? Neat. Own a saxophone? Even neater. Play something else that's not saxophone? Heck, that might still work. Want to be part of an ensemble? Boy do I have something for you then.
********Short version: Looking to organize a saxophone ensemble of any number of people, do whatever sort of charts everyone wants to play, and you don't have to be the greatest musician on the planet, just do you and it'll work out. I'm able to head compositions and band-directing if no one else is confident enough, but I'm hoping to have a "everyone is a leader and contributes" ensemble. Lastly, gigs can come at some point, but are not the priority, especially starting out. This ensemble will be whatever everyone wants it to be.*************
I've been playing sax and other instruments for 14 years, composing since high school, and just finished up my bachelor's degree.
I've got some more free time now that I'm just doing teacher certification and work this spring.
Everyone has different schedules and locations, so where and when we meet up is TBD. I mean that's obvious if as of right now I have only 1 or 2 people in total.
I'm really hoping to form a saxophone ensemble with some like-minded individuals. Doesn't matter if you're not the greatest, out of practice, younger, older, or otherwise. Heck, maybe you are the greatest. None the less, looking for saxophonists to form a group.
At first, as most ensembles start, just for some fun, but if you're interested in getting gigs and such, they'll come along but aren't a massive priority.
Current plan is to do whatever everyone wants to do. Jazz, classical stuff, pop arrangements, or some good Fusion and neo-funk? Let's do it.
At first, I'm well equipped to arrange or compose some charts and teach for any amount of musicians, but I don't expect this to be a one-person leader kind of deal and rather be an all-around "everyone is a leader" sort of thing. If you compose, arrange, improvise, have a strong leadership sense or whatever else, that's absolutely perfect and I'd really hope to do some great things together with what we can bring to the table. Anyone and everyone interested is welcome.
You don't need to send any recordings or videos of you playing, but you can if you really want to, and I'd do the same.
Some things I have in mind are along the lines of the videos I have linked below.
