The Sandhurst 9742 is Bone China. Noritake is an acknowledged leader in tableware manufacturing and produces distinctive designs, innovative technology and superior product quality. "Bone china" starts the same way as porcelain china but includes an extra ingredient, bone ash, so the china is thinner and the glaze is smoother than porcelain china. It is the Bone ash that gives the body of the plate a unique milky white color, adding a translucency to the body of the dinnerware, and making the dish stronger by making it softer.
