As an Electrical Signage Installer, you will be responsible for installing illuminated signage (channel letters, sign cabinets, monument signs, LED lighting retrofit, etc.) at commercial job sites. You’ll work closely with project managers, engineers, and other installers to ensure signage is installed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with local codes and electrical standards.
Electrical Signage Experience
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret shop drawings, installation plans, and electrical schematics to understand mounting, wiring, and finish requirements
Install electrical signage components including LED modules, transformers, wiring, junction boxes, connectors, and lighting systems
Mount signs on buildings, pylon structures, monument bases, and interior surfaces using appropriate structural and anchoring methods
Coordinate with structural steel or concrete crews as needed (e.g. setting embeds, anchor bolts, sleeves)
Pull wire, make connections, splice wires, and terminate to power sources in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code), local electrical codes, and manufacturer specifications
Verify voltage, polarity, and correct operation of lighting (using multimeters, testers) and troubleshoot issues such as shorts, open circuits, or illuminated module failure
Seal and weatherproof electrical enclosures, wire penetrations, and junction boxes to prevent water intrusion
Perform repairs, maintenance, retrofits, and replacement of signage lighting components
Ensure all installations pass local building, fire, and electrical inspections
Use lifts, cranes, aerial platforms, ladders, scaffolding, and related equipment safely and properly
Maintain tools, vehicles, and safety equipment
Adhere to job site safety rules, including OSHA standards, lockout/tagout, fall protection, and electrical safety
Maintain clear communication with project management regarding progress, delays, or unexpected site conditions
Occasionally travel to out-of-area installations as assigned
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3+ years experience installing electrified signage (channel letters, lit cabinets, LED systems)
Proficient in reading mechanical drawings, wiring schematics, and architectural/structural plans
Strong understanding of electrical systems, including voltage drop, load calculations, conduit runs, junction boxes, wiring methods, and grounding
Ability to safely work at heights (rooftops, ladders, lifts)
Comfortable operating lifts, bucket trucks, and rigging equipment
Skilled with hand and power tools, fabricating brackets/frames, and customizing/making field adjustments
Ability to troubleshoot lighting/electrical failures in the field
Valid driver’s license (with clean driving record)
Willingness to travel to job sites across Florida and occasionally out of state
Good physical stamina and mechanical aptitude
Preferred / Additional Qualifications
Licensed electrician or electrical certification
Experience with LED retrofit projects, signage control systems, and low-voltage power supplies
Welding or structural metal fabrication experience
Experience in sign permitting or knowledge of local signage codes
Familiarity with safety certification (OSHA, NFPA, etc.)
Ability to work independently or lead a small crew

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
This role requires climbing, lifting (up to ~75 lbs), bending, crawling, and working overhead
Exposure to outdoor conditions (heat, rain, wind)
Use of harnesses, fall protection, gloves, eye protection, and other PPE
Work will often occur at height, sometimes over uneven terrain or elevated surfaces
Some jobs may require work during off-hours (nights, weekends) to minimize disruption
