Ampeg GV22 Gemini 2x12 Vintage 1969-70 Guitar Combo Amp, Near Mint
Highly sought after, extremely rare, and very collectable.
Amazing excellent/Near Mint Condition. You won't find a nicer condition Ampeg GV22!
This amp is a 27 to 30 watt 2x12 (with original, perfect shape and sweet sounding CTS Speakers); has reverb and tremolo AND true pitch-shift vibrato as well. Tone for days. The reverb is less splashy than a Fender reverb- has its own unique tone, one that many folks actually prefer. The thing about Ampeg amps is the low-mid thump. This amp sounds amazing when pushed and is a tone monster for cleans too.
It has been played regularly and has been taken care of extremely well. No damage to the tolex, it is super clean in amazing beautiful condition. You probably won't find one with better tolex than this one.
I've had this for 15 years and it has never let me down. I'm pretty set on the price, because these are extremely rare. However, I'm always up for listening to offers, within reason; maybe even a trade if something really grabs me.
If you love Ampegs amps like the V2, V4, V22, etc., but don't want the weight of those...this might be your amp. This amp is still heavy (about 50-60lbs), but not V22 heavy! This amp is manageable, unlike the VT22 Monster.
A couple things you should note: if the echo is turned on all the way (which is a LOT of reverb) it will self-oscillate. This is what these do- it's just how it's designed. Also, the trem/vibrato will "tic" if it's under 10 o'clock on the intensity. Again- this is just the design. I've had a tech who specializes in Vintage ampegs keeping her running. These idiosyncrasies are part of the experience, they won't even be noticed if you don't go to the extreme parameters (all on with reverb, barely on for tremolo/vibrato). Just want to be fully disclosing the eccentricities, for those who haven't played around with this era of Ampeg.
If you love Fender Combos- grab this amazing amp, you will be quite surprised. It's just perfect for the offset lovers - Jags and Jazzmasters sound killer through this amp, especially with the reverb. Works great for any other genre, as well.
This amps takes pedals wonderfully. It's just a killer amp in every respect. You will LOVE this amp, I'm sure!
