Something you never see at the store, and something you don't find anywhere. Original 1953 (dated with name of contactor branded into wood bottom) crate that held 8 grenades. I doubt any containers for the military are wood anymore but during wartime over half a century ago, the military would contract out 100s of thousands of items. From Jeeps, to small parts for artillery and aircraft, to gauges and even glass windows, staplers and typewriters. IBM and Remington both made typewriters as well as rifles at some point. Even the crates for ammo and other ordnance had to be farmed out to 1000s of companies. War is very good business for almost every type of business.
