Here is a rare, & very clean, vintage Cinelli 2A 1" Pista Quill Stem with the Oval Milano Logo stamp + a classic Giro D'Italia Model 64 handlebar
* 26.4mm Handlebar Clamp - traditional vintage Cinelli sizing
* 105mm Long
* 26.4mm Clamping Area - traditional vintage Cinelli sizing
* 40cm wide
This has been my most prized stem - hopefully anyone looking at it knows what it is & how valuable it is. But in case you don't - the 2A was the much more limited distribution Pista version of the ubiquitous Cinelli 1A stem. It has a 65 degree angle, which makes for a negative drop like you often see on Track (or Time Trial) Bikes. These things are hard to date precisely but this one has the Oval Milano stamp that is sought by vintage afficianados, & not much info stamped on the insertion column, which indicates it is pretty early.
I had to have a 2A for my vintage Italian steel track bike & rode with this one whenever I wanted to go brakeless &/or look "tarck." It is marked up a little & I had planned to polish it, but decided that I liked the "patina" so never got around to it.
This particular model of stem was pretty rare to begin with & is getting harder & harder to find now, especially a nice one in a shorter length like this, & if you check around, generally they are pretty darn expensive. It is installed on a bit later Cinelli 64-40 Giro D'Italia handelbar wrapped with classic cloth tape that is faded, & a little frayed from bumping around in my parts box, but if you are not too picky IMHO is still usable. I don't really feel like unwrapping the bar to take it out of the stem, but at my asking price - for all intents & purposes I'm throwing it in for free.
My aging, ever increasingly inflexible, back forced me to stop using this very cool bar/stem set-up & it is a shame for it to just sit around unused; so its time for me to let it go to someone who will appreciate & use it. I'd rather not separate them but if anyone really wants just the stem or handlebar - let me know & we can talk about it...
