ONE VERY SIMILAR (A LITTLE NICER BUT NO LEATHER SEAT) IS ON ETSY FOR $495

EXC CONDITION-- How can something with leather so cracked be excellent? When that leather is over a century old and the rest likely another half century older. These were called tack benches or saddle benches and if you look at the age of the wood and the wormholes from before WW2 along with the metal parts, you can see the age. I have only seen a few others that were complete with both halves and the swinging piece at the bottom. This one is not attached now but its just mounting the hole to the screw. The screw is only a few decades old though, but the rest of this dates waaaaay back. Well, the canvas belt was replaced as well, possibly with a piece of WW2 webbing like a belt or sling. The leather is almost all there but it is hard and very cracked. To show you how much better things were made, you can sit on that stool and all the pieces move as they should. The seat is no longer soft, but all the others I have seen were bare wood seats. The leather "seat" was removed long ago if it was there.
What is this good for now? If you know anyone with a country, antique or horse designed house, this would look AWESOME on a front porch. Even as a planter holder, or especially in a barn. Even in the house if the decor is right, in a room with lot of wood. GUARANTEED to get attention and questions by all who see it. If you need a gift for someone who either likes the unusual, the very old stuff or just anything horse related, your gift will be talked about for years and years. Pretty heavy as that wood is dense! The hinges and other metal is from long before stainless steel, but thats what makes it look so cool.
