This is an oil on canvas painting of Joseph Bech, former prime minister of Luxembourg and one of the founding fathers of the EU. Painted by Hollywood artist Anthony Alfieri in 1972.
The canvas measures 14" x 18" and it is mounted in a 19" x 23" gold painted frame. The frame has some signs of tarnish but the painting is in excellent condition.

About the artist: Anthony "Tony" Alfieri was born in 1926. During WWII he served on a sub hunter that guarded the fleet at the battle of Iwo Jima. In the 1950s he moved to Florida where he married and settled in Hollywood. In 1972 he became a student of Frank Monaco, and continued painting until the late 1990s, never taking an interest in selling any of them. His favored subject was flowers and floral arrangements, though he occasionally painted scenery and people.
