The position is focused on writing English copy for a variety of formats and media, including websites, print brochures, email newsletters, product packaging, press releases, and sales presentations, and will also be responsible for developing and coordinating PR campaigns.

The ideal candidate will have extremely strong writing skills and a flexible, inquisitive approach to the task. The range of products and subjects to be described and presented is extremely varied, and the person must be able to quickly absorb and distill a diverse set of relevant points about products and suppliers, and be able to organize the information and present it in a concise and effective manner using different formats. i.e. skip the fluff and serve up the important points on a well-organized and attractive platter. Leave the adjectives and expensive words at home. Eschew obfuscation!

This begins as a freelance role, but it is expected to become a full-time position once the value and "fit" are proven. Adaptability, additional qualifications, and overall productivity as part of a marketing team will go far. The team is happy, eclectic, sometimes maddening, but very good at what it does and looking to get better with the addition of this person. 2010 is shaping up to be a great year. Get on board.

This is not, however, an agency. It's a corporate marketing department. We have to play by a few rules that we don't love, but that's life, ain't it?

Compensation has not been determined yet. This is a new concept for us - let's discuss it. We can say it is a junior or associate level position. Do tell us what you think is appropriate.

A few relevant points:

- This is about writing copy in English. This being Miami, fluency in Spanish is a bonus, but the candidate who is excellent in English and knows no other language will beat the one who is pretty good in several. If you're truly excellent in several, though, well...that's talent.

- Computer skills are important. The obvious: excellent typing and word processing skills. A little less obvious: Email software, Adobe InDesign, Acrobat, data management skills, Powerpoint, Dreamweaver, basic knowledge of HTML. Bonus skills: Vocus, good layout skills, the ability to sit down and quickly learn just about any software.

- It is very important to have good organizational skills and the ability to work under the pressure of competing projects and deadlines.

- Use "loose" when you mean "lose" and you're out. Ditto for their/there/they're, it's/its, and any of the other wonderful irregularities of the English language. The use of apostrophe's in plural's is the greatest sin imaginable. If you don't know what I'm talking about, this is definitely not the job for you.

How to Apply
Since Trazzler is quite different from other travel sites, the best way that we have found to scout out new writers is to get a sample trip.
