West Lake Park and The Anne Kolb Nature Center are looking for volunteers.
West Lake Park is a 1400 acre county park that includes the largest remaining mangrove estuary in Broward County.
There are beaches, canoeing, hiking trails and more.
There is a visitor Center, an Exhibit Hall and the Mangrove Hall which is available for meetings, programs, weddings etc.
The Park is located at the east end of Sheridan Street in Hollywood, just west of the intra-coastal waterway.
As you can well imagine, volunteers are extremely important to the park. Literally, the park could not function without it's volunteers.
The recent budget issues that have become so prominent in our minds have only made this even more true.
There is a whole array of tasks which you could do at the Park. And there is also a wide variety of amounts of time that would be useful.
We can use your help on a regular, scheduled basis, or even just sporadically, at occasional events as they come up during the year.

The School for Disabled SLB Semarang was founded in 2005 with the aim to cater for the needs of disabled children and youth in Semarang and the surrounding areas. It is mainly funded by the Central Java department of health and closely cooperates with the statutory health services and the Faculty of Medicine of the Diponegoro University. We would like to host foreign volunteers because we believe that their interaction with the children, during education and vocational classes and other therapeutic activities will be of great benefit as our students have little or no chances to meet and live with people from other cultures. The intercultural dimension that their presence will generate will also be welcomed and valued by the local staffs. The support that the volunteers will give to our teaching staff , particularly those teaching English, will be invaluable. The role of the volunteers will be assisting local teacher in classes like teaching basic conversation in English, helping teacher in giving training on physical activities of the disabled students like making simple handicrafts, playing, doing simple sport etc. The volunteers' influence on students is expected to create a sense of knowledge of other realities of the disabled kids and other cultures in a way that improves their own perception of themselves and what they can achieve. Also to open the mind of international volunteers that the disabled students also need attention to face their future. It will also give opportunity for the international volunteers about the treatment that should be done by the families of disabled children. Study theme: The volunteers will be introduced to the education activities of the disabled students related with Indonesian culture and customs in general. The Video of May 17th Set the Bar. World Class Orchestra Will Be The First Orchestra In The 60 Year History of the Junior Orange Bowl Parade to Perform. They Want to Make History and Set a Precedence for Other Parades. WCO has United with South Florida Jubilee Chorus in a Second Unprecedented Historical Accomplishment as They Will Sing the National Anthem A Cappella, First. The Orchestra Will Perform the National Anthem with Everyone Singing. Musicians From Many Other Orchestras and Big Bands Are Offering Their Assistance. All Qualified Musicians Will Join WCO In This Unique Event.
This is a nonpaying event for a 501c3 Charity that helps children. Your participation does not require performing music, you may march with us in the Parade and carry the Flag of the USA or the Flag of your Home Country or even just march with us. World Class Orchestra will give Musicians that want to perform the Patriotic music, free of charge.
This will have major coverage including WLRN and will bring World Class Orchestra much needed publicity. We have invited other groups to join us to make the strongest showing possible. We have invited Choral Groups, Dance Troupes, Artists, our Volunteers, Staff and Board of other Organizations that have shown interest in WCO. We have a massive ad campaign that will be on-going.
The waiver form must be sent in to the Parade Committee and the Parade is January 2, 2010. The theme is "Miami Winter Wonderland" and will be held in Downtown Coral Gables at 6:00 PM. This is the signature event of the largest youth festival in the world. I have been working on this with the Junior Orange Bowl Parade Committee since our May 17, Performance. We need people to hold the WCO banner and wave the Flags of their respective countries and sing, everyone is welcome to join us in this parade under the WCO Banner. A. Owns large amounts of shoes. There's no limit to how many the person owns, but 40+ would be ideal.
B. Doesn't hesitate to drop $200+ on a pair of Jordans, SB Dunks, Jimmy Choos, Ice Creams, BAPES, Air Force 1s, Manolos, Charles Davids, D&Gs, Guccis, or any other high end or expensive shoes..
C. Has lots of pairs of a specific types of shoes. I personally love Vans slip-ons, but anyone with multiple pairs of Chuck Taylors, Timbalands, Uggs, or any of the above.
D. Keeps all their shoes in the boxes, and attach Polaroids of the shoes to those boxes.
E. Anyone who goes the whole week, month, or year without wearing the same shoes twice.
The main point is that I need people who are willing to be interviewed about their shoes ON CAMERA, and who could also let me record their extensive shoe collection.
You don't necessarily have to be THE shoe addict, if you personally don't care that much about shoes that's fine, but if you know someone who fits the above criteria, and they wouldn't mind being interviewed on camera, please let me get in contact with them. The SOS Children's Village is situated in the centre of Viet Tri City, the capital of Phu Tho Province. There are now about 168 orphans living in 15 family houses under the care of the village mothers and staff.
The orphans come from 5 different provinces in the north of Vietnam. Volunteers will spend time with the children and help improving their English, organizing games and other activities for them. They will also help redecorating the houses and classrooms, planting vegetable, cleaning the area. International group of volunteers will also join the families to get closer to the children’s life and try to build up wider horizon for the children and encourage them to learn better for brighter future.

Our Branches Pompano Community Center is currently recruiting qualified candidates to become certified tax preparers through the federal VITA [Volunteer Income Tax Assistance] program.
Tax preparation services will be offered from January through May at Branches, located at 210 NE 3rd Street in Pompano Beach (just north of Atlantic Blvd. & east of Dixie Hwy.). Hours are to be determined based upon the availability of our volunteer tax preparers, but we anticipate offering services 3 times per week, including 1 evening per week.
Qualified candidates will complete a 40-hour training session in order to become certified as a VITA Tax Preparer and receive training on using their TaxWise software. This training course will be FREE to you.
Want a LESS INTENSIVE option? Complete a 3-hour training on Benefit Bank software instead, which will allow you to prepare clients' taxes alongside a VITA certified staff or volunteer!

Tutors work with their small group on math activities. If students have homework, the tutor will first assist the students in completing their homework. After homework is completed, the tutor can choose from a wide variety of activities to help the students build up their skills in mathematics. A handbook is provided for you to guide you through available math activities. Some of the activities include:
• Strengthening basic math skills in multiplication & division using flashcards
• Using computer games to help students improve their speed for math calculations
• Reinforcing math concepts taught in school, such as simplifying fractions and completing algebraic equations, using board games [Yahtzee], worksheets, & online games
• Playing outdoor games or sports activities to engage students in learning math
• Playing board games while building relationships with the students in your small group
A lot of the students who attend Branches are recent immigrants to the U.S. and are still learning the English language, so they need an extra push to help them achieve academic success.
